With the return of the Canadian Supermoto Championship, many people have been asking how everything will now be organized.
First, a bit of history:
Supermoto Québec was founded in 2003 by Francois Cominardi and Franck Kirchhoff as an association for supermoto and superquad riders and enthusiasts competing on closed circuits. Supermoto Ontario was founded in the mid-2010s by Jarett Belamy, Kevin Kiddle, and Keith Fowler. The association became inactive following the shutdown of the Canadian Supermoto Championship. In September 2025, Taso Hatzianastasiou took over leadership.
The Canadian Supermoto Championship was founded in 2011 by Francois Cominardi and Franck Kirchhoff (SMQ), along with Keith Fowler (SMO). In 2016, the CSM held its final race before suspending operations. In September 2025, the SMQ and SMO teams revived the championship and will offer a six-round calendar for the 2026 season: two races in Ontario and four in Québec.
Now, here is how Supermoto is structured in Canada:
The Canadian Supermoto Championship is divided into three divisions:
1- Canadian Supermoto Championship (CSM)
2- Ontario Championship (SMO)
3- Québec Championship (SMQ)
Note: SMQ also includes a sub-division called Superbike Québec, consisting of a three-race championship for sport bikes.
The CSM also works jointly with an urban championship made up of three races. This championship is called the Performance Québec Cup. It is important to understand that some of the races in this series also count as rounds for both the CSM and the SMO. Important: We also have two support classes within our championships — Mini Moto and Lightweight motorcycles. Please refer to Section 13 of the rulebook to verify eligible motorcycles for each round.
The official website for all five championships is: canadiansupermoto.com. On the website, you will find extensive information including: the calendar, membership registration, rulebook, standings, race registration, and more.
If you would like to participate in our events, the first step is to purchase your membership in order to secure your race number. This membership allows you to compete in all championships. However, you must also obtain a race license through one of our accredited schools. Your membership card also grants you access to practice at the Karting Trois-Rivières circuit.
Additional press releases and updates will follow.
Thank you for your interest, and have a great season!
